Automatic operation is initiated when all of the following exist:

  • Loss of system A or B
  • Flaps extended
  • Airborne, or wheel speed greater than 60 kts
  • [737 modified rudder – installed] FLT CONTROL switch A or B Hydraulic System ON

Automatic operation activates the standby electric motor–driven pump, opens the standby rudder shutoff valve, and allows the standby system to power the rudder and thrust reversers; on modified-rudder aircraft it also illuminates the STBY RUD ON, Master Caution and Flight Controls (FLT CONT) lights. One library of what your organisation knows, used three ways

Upload your manuals, add your airline and training guidance, and every crew member, trainee and instructor works from the same source.

Ask: Cited answers from your own manuals, in seconds

Crew ask a question the way they would ask a trainer. Atlas answers from your manuals and your organisation's guidance, and shows each step it took to get there.

The answer a junior first officer gets at 11pm the night before their sim check is the same answer your most experienced instructor would give.

  • Every point tied to the manual and section it came from
  • Your airline and training guidance included, and marked as yours
  • If the manual doesn't cover it, Atlas says so rather than guess

Every point carries its source

  • Manual 13.20.5The aircraft manual, down to the section
  • Airline guidanceHow your organisation applies it
  • Training guidanceHow your instructors teach it

Discuss: A knowledge check that adapts to every answer

A trainee names a system. Atlas works through up to five areas your manual covers, one question at a time, and checks each answer against what the manual actually says.

  • Each answer shapes the next question
  • Every correction points to the manual reference to revise from
  • Topics raised feed into Knowledge Gaps, so you can see where your guidance is thin

AtlasNot quite — there are three tanks, not one: main tanks No. 1 and No. 2 integral with the wings, plus a centre tank in the wing centre section between the wing roots. Manual Chapter 7

Notes: The training report drafts itself while you teach

Instructors jot quick notes between exercises. In the background, Atlas drafts them into a training report, ready for your own reporting system.

  • Strengths, areas for development and next-session focus, written up for you
  • Notes that show a gap in systems or procedures knowledge are flagged automatically
  • Each flag comes with what the manual says, so the debrief can point to the reference

Standby hydraulics automatic operationManual 13.20.5

Automatic operation requires loss of system A or B, flaps extended, and airborne or wheel speed above 60 kts; it powers rudder and thrust reversers.

From a real test session. The late acceleration is a handling point, so it isn't flagged.

Knowledge Gaps

See where your guidance runs out, before it shows up in the sim

Most of what your best instructors know never gets written down. It lives in their heads, and walks out the door when they retire or move on. Knowledge Gaps shows you where that's already happening.

Built from the questions your crew actually ask

When a question is answered by the manual but not by your own airline or training guidance, Atlas records it as a knowledge gap. The same question asked different ways is grouped together, so you can see what keeps coming up.

Close a gap once, for everyone

Add your organisation's guidance to a gap and it's included in every future answer to that question, marked as yours.

Instructor notes add to the picture

Notes flags knowledge gaps it finds in sim sessions too, each with the manual reference. Between the two, you can see both where your guidance is thin and where trainees are struggling.

Answers you can check, not just trust

Training decisions need an audit trail. Every answer shows where it came from, and Atlas never hides a disagreement between your sources.

The UK CAA has reviewed Ask Atlas and confirmed its focus on human oversight, explainability and traceability aligns with their AI trust framework (CAP2970).

Every answer shows its source

Each point is tied to the manual and the section it came from, so anyone can open the manual and check it. If your library doesn't cover a question, Atlas tells you so plainly instead of filling the gap from general knowledge.

Automatic operation activates the standby electric motor–driven pump, opens the standby rudder shutoff valve, and allows the standby system to power the rudder and thrust reversers. Manual 13.20.5 Manual 9.20.12

When sources disagree, you see both

If your company guidance and the manual say different things, Atlas doesn't quietly pick one. It sets out what each says, so the difference gets resolved rather than missed.

Sources differ: the Ops Manual gives 33 knots (winglets) / 36 knots (no winglets) Manual L.10.1, whereas company guidance states the maximum demonstrated crosswind for the fleet is 30 knots Airline guidance.

From a demo library where the company guidance was deliberately set up to disagree with the manual.

3–6 seconds to an answer

That's typically how long it takes from asking a question to the answer starting to appear, after searching your whole library. Quick enough to check something between briefings.

Measured on a B737 operations manual of more than 1,400 pages.
